I’d like to share a little trivia here first. Ever since I laid hands on an issue of L’Officiel Hommes, I’ve become fond of calling sports shoes, sneakers, trainers, and what have you in the same wave length as baskets. So, basket is a French term for the aforementioned. Moving on to my story, I’ve started to feel that on the recent deux occasions that I’ve used these baskets from Dior Homme back when it was still Hedi’s tenure as creative director, I’m starting to feel that they’re rather cursed. Don’t get me wrong but I love these sneakers but on these two recent occasions that I’ve used them it rained. So, I jokingly said that to my friends while we were at Starbucks doing the usual fag and coffee thing. Et alors, the two salopes were quick to tell me so you were the cause of all these. It’s rather shallow to say this mais I just hate it when it all of a sudden rained. In most cases, I have this tendency that when I go over the top and plan my ensembles for a coming event, they’re not really waterproof. Well you know weather reports here aren’t really as accurate as it in other countries. Other than that, I love mixing textures like a suede jacket to a velvet blazer to a pair of gross-grained leather chaussures. It’s like imagine yourself dashing in a velvet suit then all of a sudden it rains heavily. It’s not good for your suit first of all. There go my sentiments on unreliable météo report here in poor Manille and how it hinders me from wearing what I really ought to but then again it’s nothing really grave or serious. C’est la vie, non?
